Patch Notes

Patch 0.4.0 has just gone live! With this update, the Island has turned snowy as we celebrate all things winter! Check out our winter update article here for more about this event, including information on our hub decorations and winter rewards calendar!

Leaderboards

Every game lobby has been redesigned with brand new areas made for displaying our new statistic leaderboards! Each new leaderboard will show your own stats and the stats for surrounding players on holograms.

Leaderboards have toggleable features for you to switch which time period you’re viewing (daily, weekly, monthly, and lifetime) and the ability to switch between a leaderboard that contains everyone or one with just you and your friends.

You'll notice a few empty leaderboard slots; as some statistics are still being finalized we'll be launching more leaderboards as time goes by! Additionally, each leaderboard has a set of podiums that will be proudly displaying the top 3 players for each statistic which will also be launched when ready!

Combat Games (Sky Battle + Battle Box) - Health Bar

All our combat games now have a brand new health bar! This is a bar that floats above a players head showing how much health they have left. Using the health bar makes it much easier to understand health from extended ranges and gives the opportunity to show more information based on a players health.

Absorption Hearts

Absorption (or golden hearts) show on the health bar to the right of normal health, this makes it clear to see how many hearts of both heart types a player has.

Regeneration

A player undergoing health regeneration will now have their right most health bar appear pink. This makes it easy to tell if you landed a regeneration orb on a teammate or if an enemy you are fighting is regaining health.

Health Indicator and Player Name Ranges

With health being easily understood from a distance we can increase the potential range you can see that information.

Firstly the range at which you always see player names and their health has been reduced.

However now when damaging an enemy at any range their health bar and name will appear for 8 seconds to you. This allows players to fight effectively at long distances, additionally your teammates will see the health bar and name for half the time, helping teammates understand who needs help and who to focus in a fight.

Finally the range at which you see all teammates health bars and names have been greatly increased.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To fully utilize this feature you will need to tune your Entity Distance Setting found in Minecraft's video settings.

The range at which you render health bars and names is tied to Entity Distance. This can be adjusted freely to what works for you. For a large majority of people putting this to a high value should not impair gameplay.

Numerical Indicator in Health Bar

When a player is below 8 hearts of health a health number will appear in the health bar for added clarity.

Health Bar Settings

The health bar can be toggled back to original health counter if players wish, this is accessed from the personal settings menu.

Team Chat

In team games (currently Sky Battle and Battle Box) there is now a team chat channel. You can switch to that channel using /chat team or enable it by default in the personal settings menu.

Battle Box

Christmas Exclusive Map - Santa’s Slay

On Island's iteration of the map, one of the kits uses a Golden Apple in order to utilize the new health bar feature.

Timed Orbs of Blindness

The blindness effect used in timed orbs of blindness now hides player names and health bars.

Spectating

To help alleviate the waiting that can occur in Battle Box, when you complete a round you will begin spectating another active matchup immediately.

Hole in the Wall

Returning Map - Medieval

The Hole in the Wall map from halloween is returning in it’s standard form. It will now stay in the Hole in The Wall map list for good.

This map will be available immediately at launch of the update.

TGTTOS

Christmas Exclusive Map - Polar Passing

A block placing map with a twist, all players get a potion of leaping II.

This allows you to place two blocks below you when towering up creating a very different type of building map.

Sky Battle

Further Inventory Swap Optimizations

To help organize weapons faster we’ve added a right click quick swap just like we did with armor last week.

When in an inventory or chest menu, right clicking a sword, axe or bow will swap it with your first item of the item that you clicked in your hot bar.

General Fixes/Changes

  • When a player is spectating, they will now have a “Spectating” icon in their action bar.
  • Rerolling a quest will now always give you a new quest that differs from the one you had before.
  • The “range kills” quests now track correctly and progress is only made if you perform a ranged kill.
