Patch 0.23.0

From MCC Island Wiki

Patch 0.23.0 was a major patch, which marked the start of the Winter 2024 event, and brought a bunch of updates to plobbies.

Two articles have been release alongside the patch notes:

Battle Box

(Re)Introduced two new maps:

  • Ice Fishing In this unique map there are no bows, instead players focus on using fishing rods for ranged combat! Try and pull enemies into the lava below, you can use levitation orbs to lift your target from a surface and then cleanly pull them into the lava when the effect has ended.
  • Santa's Slay Returning from the vaults is the slayest map in town.

Made a series of balancing changes to existing maps:

  • Canal
    • Scrapper - Increased number of Short Timed Orbs of Blindness from 1 to 2.
  • Train Station
    • Reduced arrows in all kits from 16 to 12.
    • Scrapper - Reduced number of Short Timed Orb of Poisons from 2 to 1.
    • Flanker - Removed Timed Orb of Harming, added Spark of Regeneration II.
  • Haunted House
    • Scrapper - Removed Spark of Regeneration.
    • Healer - Replaced Orb of Cleansing with Orb of Glowing.
    • Trickster - Replaced stone sword with wooden sword.
  • Pumpkin Patch
    • Scrapper - Added Spark of Regeneration I.
    • Healer - Replaced wooden sword with stone sword.
  • Spa
    • Reduced arrows in all kits from 16 to 12.
  • Courtyard
    • Baller - Added Orb of Cleansing.
  • Trenches
    • Reduced arrows in all kits from 16 to 10.
    • Sharpshooter - Replaced Spark of Regeneration with 6 arrows.
  • Spaceship
    • Reduced arrows in all kits from 16 to 12.
  • Watermill
    • Flanker - Replaced 2 Sparks of Speed with 3 cobwebs. Changed kit type to Gadgeteer.
  • Graffiti
    • Reduced blocks in all kits from 8 to 4.
    • Scrapper - Removed Orb of Cleansing
    • Healer - Added Orb of Cleansing
    • Flanker - Reduced additional blocks from 8 to 4.

Hole in the Wall

  • Added a new winter map variant, Ice Palace. Ice Palace is now lovely and festive, but the floor is ice though!
  • The Winter Beach variant is also returning.

Sky Battle

For the duration of the winter event, the loot pool in Sky Battle has been adjusted.

  • Creeper eggs have been replaced with Snow Golem eggs.
  • Snow Golems continuously fire snowballs at enemies each dealing 1 of damage.
    • Player thrown snowballs still do not cause damage.
    • Snowballs and Snow Golem eggs also have double the chance of appearing.

Dynaball

  • Dynaball has two new maps!
    • Frozen Trees is a tricky to navigate map with lots of small platforms and slippy blocks, but there's also sparkling blocks on the trees that give levitation when destroyed.
    • The next map, Slalom, is a mini ski-slalom course, with plenty of room to maneuver and a sharp incline, throwing TNT where you want is much easier!
  • The Presents and Sled maps are also returning for the duration of the event.

TGTTOS

The Polar Passing and Santa's Train map variants are returning.

Plobby Changes

Added a bunch of new plobby changes, with this batch introducing a number of limited time settings which will only be available during the winter event.

The following Special Settings, which are globally configurable and apply to all games, have been added. These settings are all only available for a limited time.

  • Fish Mode Adds more fish, breaks things that are not fish.
  • Meltdown Mode Adds snowballs which freeze players.
  • Hailstorm Hail will fall from the sky! When it lands it deals knockback to nearby players and destroys blocks.

Also added a number of permanent setting to existing games.

  • Battle Box
    • Rounds Win Target If enabled, instead of the round amount being the total amount a team needs to win that many rounds to win the game (e.g. Round Amount = 5 means the first team to 5 wins wins the game).
    • Modify Pickaxe Efficiency Configure how fast the pickaxe is able to mine blocks. This can be used to slow down or speed up how fast the point gets captured.
    • Point Lock Time Controls how long the capture point is locked for at the start of the round.
    • Change Kits Every Round If enabled, kit selection occurs every round instead of once at the start of the game. The first kit selection phase is still 30s but others are only 20s (same as event).
  • Hole in the Wall
    • Select Wall Set Allows selecting the wall set to use, ignoring the wall set normally used on the map.
  • Parkour Warrior Survivor
    • Final Duel Size Sets the amount of players that can be in the final duel.
    • Obstacle Count Changes how many obstacle each leap has, default is 3, can be set between 1 and 10.
    • Final Leap Obstacle Count Changes how many obstacles the final duel has, default is 5, can be set between 1 and 25.
    • Obstacle Pool Changes which obstacles are used in the courses. You can select between the current daily/monthly courses, just the daily courses, just the monthly courses, or all previous obstacles including past monthly/daily courses. The custom seed setting is now only available if you are on the everything obstacle pool. Seeds now reset when a major patch drops like this one, instead of resetting monthly. You can now use /seed in-game to get the current game seed if applicable.
  • Sky Battle
    • Loot Type If enabled, various loot items in chests are replaced with a different item according to the following rules:
      • Standard - No changes.
      • Swords - All axes and bows are turned into swords.
      • Axes - All swords and bows are turned into axes.
      • Tridents - All melee weapons are turned into tridents.
      • Fishing Rods - All weapons are turned into fishing rods.
      • Shields - Tertiary items (TNT, scaffolding) are replaced with low durability shields.
      • Bows - All melee weapons are replaced with bows.
      • Crossbows - All melee weapons are replaced with crossbows.
  • TGTTOS
    • Round Amount Sets how many rounds will be played.

We've also added a number of admin commands that are available to plobby owners. These should help you run tournaments a bit more smoothly. These commands are only available during games, and not after they end.

  • /timer pause and /timer resume - Pauses and restarts the timer.
  • /timer skip - Skips the current timer to the last 10 seconds.
  • /timer restart - Jumps the timer back to where it started.
  • /game respawn <player> - Respawns a player that was eliminated from the game.
  • /game end - Will end the current game and skip to the podium.

Other Changes

  • Reverted change to creepers in Sky Battle, they now once again attempt to explode on their owner. This gives more freedom to trigger a detonation before punching the creeper to move the explosion.
  • Fixed a few more cases of boss bar, action bar, scoreboard or tab list widgets not rendering for players or not updating.
  • Fixed death drop limiting in Sky Battle not working.
  • Fixed re-queue wait message not including the actual seconds to wait.
