Sky Battle

Not to be confused with Sky Battle Solo.

Sky Battle is a PvP-based last-team standing game on MCC Island, which was introduced in Patch 0.1.0, with the release of the server.

A remix of Sky Battle was introduced during the Squidtek Invasion event - Sky Battle - Water Fight.
Another remix of Sky Battle was introduced during April Fools 2026 - Sky Battle Duos.

Similar to Skyblockle and the classic Minecraft mini-game Skywars, Sky Battle is a fast-paced game where the last team standing wins! Starting on your team's island, move strategically, pick up loot and defeat the other players. Be careful of that border creeping in as you make your way into the centre for the final battle.

Gameplay

Sky Battle is a team-battle royale game. Each game consists of 8 teams of 4 players, spaced equally apart from the centre of the map. The goal is to be the last team standing in each game. Throughout the game, players can find resources in chests scattered around the map, while fighting against the border and other opponents.

Players can earn Score from surviving in the game as well as eliminating opponents in the opposing teams.

At the beginning of the game, players get the following items:

Chest System

Sky Battle has a unique tiered chest system. There are five different tiers of chests, each with better loot than the previous tier. The tiers of the chests define which loot pool that chest draws it's items from. Each loot pool contains pre-defined items in a pre-defined quantity. The following settings can be specifically applied to Sky Battle while in a private lobby:

  • Border Speed [100%]
    Multiplies the speed by which the border moves.
    • Must be between 1% and 500%.
  • Enable Roof and/or Floor Borders [On]
    Controls whether the roof and/or floor border is enabled.
  • Fall Damage [On]
    Configures whether players take fall damage.
  • Item Tiers [0]
    Modifies the item tier of all equipment and chest loot. Negative values lower item tier (diamond -> iron) while positive values increase item tiers (diamond -> netherite) and increase item stack sizes.
    • Must be between -2 and 5.
  • Loot Type [Standard]
    Replaces various items found in loot chests with a different type. Each type has a different logic to how it replaces chest contents.
  • Map Pool [All Enabled]
    Configures which maps will be used for this game.
  • Player Health [100%]
    Multiplies the maximum health of each player by the set percentage.
    • Must be between 5% and 200%.
  • Score Display [No Scores]
    Configures how scores are shown in the user interface.
    • Personal Score: Shows the player's own score.
    • All Scores: Shows scores comparison between all teams/players.
    • No Scores: Shows no information on scores of others.
  • Team Limit [8]
    Changes the maximum amount of teams the game will have. If fewer teams are available more players will be assigned to each team. Teams will have 4 members by default.
    • Must be between 2 and 8.
  • Border Speed [100%]

Every enabled map in the Map Pool has a weight of 1 when Advanced Selection is enabled.

Update History

  • Fixed inconsistent descriptions on some orbs.
  • Fixed inconsistent pixels on quick timed orbs and timed orbs.
  • Reduced the names of minor and major consumable items to be smaller.
  • Reverted orb radius changes from patch 0.31.2.
  • Fixed experience bar level going missing after respawning.
  • Changed XP to now consider both eliminations and assists, with 15 XP per up to 300 XP for 20 elims/assists.
  • Changed major regeneration orbs radius to be consistent with other orbs.
  • Increased the radius of Orbs, Quick Timed Orbs and Timed Orbs.
    • Orbs: 4 → 5
    • Timed Orbs: 7 → 8.5
    • Quick Timed Orbs: 5 → 6
  • Tab list now shows assists.
  • Added custom death messages that are used when a player with levitation gets cleansed and dies from the fall.
  • Cleansing orbs now pass through cobwebs without being slowed down.
  • Fixed sapling/lantern items dropping.
  • Fixed dropped items not stacking with items found in chests.
  • Fixed one team rarely spawning in the void.
  • Fixed axe weapon skins being applied in games.
    • Sky Battle does not have axe/sword weapon skins as it makes it impossible to distinguish item tiers.
  • Fixed teams spawning on the same island or in the void.
  • Fixed various issues with the matchmaker that prevented Sky Battle games from starting.
  • Fixed a bug where cleansing was removing buffs from teammates.
  • Fixed issue where cosmetics aren’t properly tagged as cosmetic items causing them to drop on death and to be movable in the inventory.
  • Introduced a new map, Winter Circus.
  • All receptacles have had a major internal makeover.
    • The lore tooltips have been updated to feature more accurate and extensive information.
    • Sparks and Orbs have some new sound effects including unique sounds for the effect type.
  • Assists are now once again awarded for 8 seconds after entering combat with another player. Regeneration is now separate and starts 4 seconds after being last damaged, instead of being tied to the combat status.
  • Fixed issue where health bars could not show more than 2 hearts of absorption health.
  • Introduced a new map, Palace.
  • Added Moments for eliminations.
  • Added assists in the top right. Assists do not provide any personal score but add a small extra metric, message and sound effect.
  • Changed non-pickupable arrows to stay for 0.5s after landing, previously they immediately disappeared when landing.
  • Thrown projectiles inherit less player velocity based on their speed (16% for potions, 50% for snowballs/pearls, 100% for arrows).
  • Attack cooldown is now not reset when placing blocks with off-hand.
  • Armor damage reduction and enchantments are processed before tick invulnerability is calculated which results in more damage being dealt in some edge cases.
  • Item Changes:
    • Fixed sparks/orbs still triggering the off-hand item when used.
    • Fixed sparks/orbs not stacking properly.
    • Fixed sparks applying only 50% the effect duration.
    • Fixed item tier setting not working on sparks/orbs.
    • Fixed hearts showing behind champion score.
  • Introduced a new map, Fairy Ring.
  • We've improved orb physics and visuals.
    • Reworked bouncing logic to be more predictable and consistent.
    • Orbs can now collide with walls multiple times and lose some momentum each time.
    • Orbs now always show up as dropped items instead of transforming into a dropped item after the first collision.
    • Replaced white spark particles with a consistent trail that follows all orb types and gets colored based on the effect, making it clearer what path the orb takes. The particles increase in quantity as the orb nears its explosion.
    • Non-timed orbs now make noises while they are moving.

  • Creeper Adjustments:

  • A "Victory!" title will now be displayed when you win, replacing the old "Game Over" title.
  • Changed death drops to drop slightly more spread out like in the event.

  • Creeper Adjustments:
    • Creeper damage reduced by 55%. The most damage a player can take with a starting armour from them is now 8.5 hearts.
    • Amount of creeper eggs found in tiers 1 and 2 chests are reduced from 2 to 1.

  • Right click quick swap for armour is implemented for weapons.
  • Efficient item swapping removed - instead, right-clicking any armour piece will now equip it instantly. Shift-clicking the armour will now behave like vanilla again.
  • Increased amount of orbs, sparks, and potions dropped from players from 1 to 2.
  • Increased amount of arrows dropper from players from 4 to 6.
  • Removed cobwebs from starter chest.
  • Increased likelihood of getting Orbs of Harming and Sparks of Levitation/Regeneration from chests.
  • Efficient item swapping introduced - on shift clicking, gear and items will now automatically be equipped if it has a better material quality than the one currently possessed. The item that was swapped will still be in the player's inventory.
  • Non-helpful items will now no longer be dropped when a player is eliminated. Only these following items will now be dropped as well as limited to some degree to prevent an overpowered amount of resources gained per each player.
    • Weapons and Armour - the best quality armour and weapon. Only one of each will drop.
    • Arrows - limited to 4 arrows.
    • Snowballs - limited to 16 snowballs.
    • TNT, Creepers, Cobwebs - limited to 2 each.
    • Orbs, Sparks, Potions - limited to 1 each.
  • Creeper damage has been reduced by 25%.
  • Creeper eggs and cobwebs amount has been reduced.

  • You can no longer remove cosmetic hats from your head in game.
  • Map Adjustments:
    • Red House
      • Temporary halloween decorations added for the duration of Halloween 2022.
      • Added an extra building in the centre.
  • Barriers around spawn are removed slightly earlier.
  • Fixed an issue where the boss bar, containing time, players remaining in team, teams remaining, and player kills, stopped updated after being eliminated.
  • Introduced a new map, Grasslands.
  • All players now start with leather leggings and boots.
  • Wooden Sword with Knockback I upgraded to Stone.
  • Map Adjustments:
    • Red House
      • The distance between all islands has been increased by around 4 blocks.
      • Houses closer to the centre of the map have been given more structure at their base to give more options for teams not on the roofs.
      • More windows in houses are open.
    • Candy Land
      • In the mid-ring, berries on top of the doughnut have been flattened and platforms have been widened at the rings cupcake towers.
      • The map now has a lenient floor border that will rise.
    • Celestial
      • The top barrier has been lowered however the roof border has also been removed.
  • The player icon on the boss bar and scoreboard are now coloured based on the team colour.
  • Team colour combinations tweaked to not be too similar to each other.

  • Loot Changes:
    • Axes now downgraded to a weaker material. They will also now appear only in tier 3 or 4 chests.
    • Netherite swords changed to diamond axes in the tier 4 chests.
  • Ceiling and floor borders now render much denser for nearby players which makes them easier to see.
  • Players now respawn at the spectator spawn point.
  • Disabled fall damage for creepers.
  • Changed the color of harming orbs to avoid confusion of it being a healing orb.
