Private Lobbies

From MCC Island Wiki

Private Lobbies (more colloquially known as Plobbies) are private game sessions that can be created by players with a number of custom options. Plobbies can only be created by users with the MCC+ rank, and require a minimum of 4 players to start.

All games, with exception of Parkour Warrior Dojo and Fishing, can be selected to play in plobbies.

Private Lobbies do not count towards progression, such as quests and statistics, but Island XP is awarded based on playtime. Players can earn 20XP per minute while in plobby games, with a max daily limit of 1,200 XP. This means players are only rewarded for 60 minutes of playtime.

Menu

A Private Lobby can be created within its respective tab in the Social Menu. If a player does not have MCC+, they will be unable to do so and be prompted to buy the rank from the webstore.

A Private Lobby contains a Player Pool and a Spectator Pool. The pool that a player is in determines whether they will play or spectate in the next game. Players (or their whole party) can be easily moved between pools by the leader. Players within the same party are grouped next to each other in each pool's menu, and hovering over a player shows a list of the members of their party.

The plobby menu has a Manage Teams tab that allows the leader to organise players and parties into different teams, and to assign certain faction colours to the teams. All players not currently assigned to a team can be clicked on to assign them, but if this is not done the system will automatically assign them upon joining a game.

The menu also has a number of options which, although visible to members of a plobby, can only be used/modified by the plobby leader:

  • Plobby Settings - Edit settings for your Private Lobby.
  • Disband Plobby - Closes the private lobby and removes all players from it.
    • Plobby members instead see the option to Leave Plobby.
  • Plobby Lock [ Unlocked/ Locked] - Lock to prevent further players from joining your Private Lobby.
  • Plobby State [ Public/ Private] - Determines whether your Private Lobby is available on the Plobby Browser.
    • Hovering over this option also shows a preview of what the name and description would look like if public.
  • Game Selection - Select the game to play or choose which games to include in your Game List.
  • Ready Check (Optional) - Sends all players in your Private Lobby a message to check if they're ready to play.
  • Start Game

Settings

Private Lobbies have a huge number of settings that allow you to customize technical features, both for the lobby and the games. Changes made to the settings save and persist to future lobbies that a player creates.

Additionally, players can import and export plobby settings with shareable codes. A maximum of 10 codes can be generated per day, and settings on the "General Settings" page are not included. Newly generated codes expire after 7 days. Every time a code is imported it will not be deleted for 60 days.

Some settings for individual games, such as the ones affecting map and modifier pools, allow the leader to choose the specific weighting of each entry within the pool from any value between 0 to 64. Weights are only active if "Advanced Selection" is active for these specific settings, and the weights are default set to the same as in regular games.

The following is a list of all the custom settings for plobbies.

    • Modify Pickaxe Efficiency
      • Configure how fast the pickaxe is able to mine blocks. This can be used to slow down or speed up how fast the point gets captured.
    • Point Lock Time
      • Controls how long the capture point is locked for at the start of the round.
    • Change Kits Every Round

    • You can set it back to 40 in the settings menu. It’s just the default value that’s been changed.
  • Changed how plobby map selections are processed by the server which should fix some cases where a plobby did not use the map selected by the host.
  • To address client performance issues in plobbies, only 20 name tags are shown at once in games with the custom health bars (BB, SB, PWS, RSR).

    • Elimination Threshold Scaling (defaults to on)
      • Scales leap requirements with the player count.

      • Scales the difficulty of the included obstacles.

    • Enable Roof and/or Floor Borders (defaults to on)
      • Allows disabling the roof and/or floor borders.
  • Added new TGTTOS settings:
    • Remove Modifier Limits (defaults to off)
      • Allows modifiers to be used on maps where they are normally disabled as well as repeated. This does not allow using any modifiers on incompatible maps (e.g. Crumbling Blocks on non-building maps and TNT Time on indoors maps or maps without a defined explodable area).
      • Most maps have a fairly large number of disabled modifiers, so this setting will give you a lot more freedom.
  • Hole in the Wall changes:
    • 10 legacy traps that are normally disabled in all maps are now available to manually enable in plobby settings.
    • Fixed an issue where trap selection didn’t work correctly when disabling traps. If only a few traps are enabled they should now properly show up in-game.
  • The navigator now shows a star around the Plobby Browser if any public plobbies are being hosted.
  • Fixed an issue where plobby settings did not update if changed after joining the queue.
  • Fixed an issue where rejoining didn’t let you participate in later rounds in TGTTOS/Battle Box in plobbies.

0.18.0

  • Added a new Plobby Browser, allowing players to join public plobbies.
  • General Plobby Settings
    • Added a setting to set a maximum player count below the current game’s base limit.
      • This allows for nicer limits on public lobbies where you don’t want a 40-player game.
    • Added an Automatic option to the join pool, which will fill up the players up to the player limit first, and then fill up the spectators.
    • Added a Join by Username lobby type, which allows joining by typing /pl join <username>
    • Added a new button to decide whether the plobby should be listed on the Plobby Browser or not.
      • This setting is automatically disabled if a leader is AFK for 10 minutes to prevent the plobby browser from being filled with plobbies that won’t start.
    • Added a setting to show the plobby join code in the scoreboard.
    • Added a setting to auto-shuffle which players can play and which players are spectators after every game.

    • Added a setting to control whether kicked players should be able to rejoin the plobby.
    • Added a button to reset all settings on a page to the default value.
    • Maps can now be given weights, which determine how often they show up. This can be configured in a custom Advanced View of the map selection menu

      • If there are more players than kits, people will simply not get one.
      • If set to zero, there are no kits.
  • Sky Battle Settings
    • Added a setting to disable fall damage in Sky Battle.
  • Dynaball Settings
    • Added a setting to customise which items drop from crates in Dynaball.
      • Turning off all items will disable item crates.
      • You can customise the weights, which decides how often each item shows up.
      • Items will have their normal weights pre-assigned initially.
  • Added a team manager, allowing you to organise players and parties into different teams and assign them certain colours so you can be part of a particular faction.
    • The system automatically assigns teams & colours to any players you didn’t organize yourself.
  • Other improvements:
    • Added an extra click action to the start button to shuffle players manually.
    • You can now invite players to a plobby at any time!
      • Previously, you couldn’t invite/join a plobby while matchmaking or playing.
    • You can now add additional games to the Game List of the plobby by shift + left-clicking in the select games menu.
      • The next game is randomly selected whenever a previous game ends but can be manually overridden.
    • You can now hand plobby leadership over to another player that has MCC+ and is in the plobby.
      • This can be done with /pl transfer <target>.
      • If you are not the original leader of a plobby, changes made to settings are temporary.
    • Kicking players from a plobby now prevents them from joining again.
      • You have to disband and re-create the plobby if you want to let them back in.
      • This can be disabled in settings.
    • When a non-party leader attempts to join a plobby, their party leader receives a chat request allowing them to join easily.
      • This lets party players pick out a game from the Plobby Browser and neatly ask their party leader to join.
    • Sending invites to non-party leaders automatically forwards the request to the party leader.
    • Added a new general setting to automatically join the plobby chat when joining a plobby. This setting is enabled by default.
      • Players now receive a notification to join the plobby chat channel when joining, if they do not have this setting.
    • Join/leave notifications and scoreboard now separately show spectator amount.
    • You can no longer start a team game when all members are in a single party.
    • You can no longer invite players with an active matchmaking penalty to a plobby, or join a plobby while under a matchmaking penalty.
    • You can no longer invite players currently in another game to a plobby, or join a plobby while in a game.
    • Plobby join restrictions are now properly enforced even if you join a plobby indirectly through a party.
    • Handling of offline players has changed in a bunch of ways:
      • You can now start matchmaking even with offline players in the plobby.
      • Start requirements now factor in offline players completely, except the minimum players requirement. You need 4 online players to start a plobby.
      • Queueing is no longer interrupted by players leaving or joining the plobby.
      • Queueing is no longer interrupted by changing settings. (except map pools)
      • These changes should make for a better experience when people are often joining/leaving through the plobby browser.
    • Better error messages are now sent when trying to invite a party that has another player who can’t join the plobby for a reason.
    • You now get a warning when you have over the recommended amount of players for a certain game. Going above these recommendations may result in server lag.
    • Corrected wording on various incorrect error messages received when inviting/joining plobbies in obscure scenarios.
    • Renamed Party Invites setting to Invite Privacy and clarified it also affects plobby invitations.
    • The warning messages about players with matchmaking penalties and players that are in a different game now indicate which players are causing the warning.
    • Leaving a plobby as a party leader in the plobby leader’s party but not plobby leader no longer causes visual issues.
    • The game selection menu now shows the standard player limits instead of the plobby player limits, as the 4-40 limits apply to every game.

0.15.1

  • Fixed plobbies in shuffle mode still being stopped from starting if there were too many parties.
  • Improved performance when running PvP games in large plobbies.

0.15.0

  • The game selection menu now lists max and min player counts for each game, which has been raised to 40 players for all games.
    • Due to technical limitations, having more than the usual maximum number of players in games of Battle Box and Sky Battle will just increase the team size (Battle Box will run with a max of 4 teams of 10 and Sky Battle will be 8 teams of 5). You can't play these games with ten teams like in MCC yet.
  • The plobby menu has been tweaked to be clearer for both players and owners. It now better displays what prevents the plobby from starting, when a game is already running, and how to rejoin a running game.
  • Non-plobby owners can now see why a plobby can’t be started.
  • /plobby leave will now automatically disband a plobby if used by the leader.
  • Join codes no longer contain a handful of characters that were hard to distinguish such as 0, O, 1, I, etc.
  • Fixed an exploit where plobbies could start even when various requirements were not met (e.g. too few maps or too few players).

0.11.0

  • Added Private Lobbies.
