Fishing Spots
Fishing Spots
Players will be able to catch Fish by using their Fishing Rod at Fishing Spots.<br />Each Fishing Spot will have different attributes:
Players can catch fish and items by casting their Fishing Rod at Fishing Spots on Fishing Islands. These spots are visible by the two fish swimming beneath them, causing animated water ripples, and are marked by a label with informative text.
* Stock - This will determine how many catches the player will be able to perform at the spot before it's depleted.

* Catch Time - This will determine how quickly fish will appear after each of the player's casts.
Each Fishing Spot has a stock level that determines how many catches a player can make before it is depleted. The stock level ranges from <span style="color: #AB6FFF">Plentiful</span> to <span style="color: #65FFFF">Very High</span>, <span style="color:#54FC55">High</span>, <span style="color: #FFFF55">Medium</span>, <span style="color: #F57600">Low</span>, and finally <span style="color: #FF5556">Depleted</span>. After each non-Junk catch, there is a 40% chance that the stock level will drop to the next tier (cancelled by Graceful Rod).
* Buffs - Each spot will have a chance of spawning with a buff that multiplies the effect of certain fishing perks or increase the player's chance of catching certain types of items.

All spots on all islands will be the same for every player, but a spot's Stock will be individual to each player. Additionally, the more remote/hidden a spot is, the higher chance it will have of rolling with better Buffs but also a poor Stock or Catch Time.
Each spot also spawns with various buffs that increase the effect of specific Fishing Perks. These buffs become visible once the player reaches 6.

All fishing spot locations and buffs on all islands are the same for every player, but a spot's stock is unique to each player. Additionally, the more remote or hidden a spot is, the higher the chance it will have better buffs, but also a lower stock level.

Spots have a minimum stock level of <span style="color: #FFFF55">Medium</span> and are guaranteed to have at least one buff.

Not every spot on an island is active at the same time. Every 60 minutes, the "currents change": all spots on all islands refresh with new stats, and some spots may become active or inactive.

Catching
After casting their rod at a Fishing Spot, a player must wait until water particles reach their bobber and for a huge exclamation mark to appear. Once this happens, the catch can be reeled in by right-clicking. More valuable catches will take longer to reel in, indicated by bars on screen and sound effects.<br />Once the player has a catch on their hook, they can reel it in at any time without it escaping, as long as the spot's still there.

Players with MCC+ have the Auto Rod perk, meaning they have the ability to automatically fish: once they have thrown their line at a fishing spot, their rod will automatically cast and catch without input until the spot depletes. Catching with Auto Rod is slower than manually doing so by 1.5 seconds.

Fishing Islands
The player can unlock nine different islands filled with Fishing Spots, each accessible via the Navigator. These islands are spread across three climates, with three islands per climate.

Climates and Grottos
Grottos
Each Climate has a hidden Grotto, a special area full of unique fish and better loot than regular islands. Each Grotto's location must be revealed by collecting 2,000 of that climate's Wayfinder Data: rewarded on every catch within that climate. Performing catches in a grotto will decrease the grotto's stability, depending on that Fishing Spot's stability cost. Once the grotto's stability reaches 0, the grotto will be again unreachable for the player until they rediscover its location.

Not every spot will be active at the same time. Every 60 minutes, all spots on all islands will refresh with new attributes, and some spots may become active or inactive.

Fish
Fish
There will be approximately 200 unique fish to catch. Each fish caught will have one of 4 weights: Average, Large, Massive, or Gargantuan. Each weight above Average will be exponentially harder to catch than the last. Catching all 4 weights of a fish will be required in order to gain the maximum amount of Angler Trophies for that particular fish.

There are 216 unique fish to catch, each with one of 4 weights: Average, Large, Massive, and Gargantuan; and one of 6 rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic.<br />Rarity determines how difficult it is to find and catch a specific fish. Each weight above Average is exponentially harder to catch than the last. In order to gain the maximum amount of for a particular fish, players must catch all 4 weights of that fish.

Fishing Islands and Climates
The player will be able to unlock nine different islands filled with Fishing Spots, each accessible via the Navigator. These islands will be spread across three climates, with three islands per climate. The climate of the island the player is fishing on will determine what they can catch and the effectiveness of certain perks. Additionally, catches will reward different types of Wayfinder Data depending on the climate.

Grottos
Each Climate will have a hidden Grotto, a special area full of unique fish and valuable treasure. Wayfinder Data players gather by catching fish in a specific climate will reveal the location of the Grotto in that climate. Grottos will guarantee a specific type of fish or item. ==== Perks ====
Perks
There will be a number of Fishing Perks, each with a different effect that controls how and what the player catches. Each perk will use a system of Perk Points to determine its effectiveness. Players will be able to increase their permanent Perk Points by purchasing Perk Upgrades with Angler Tokens, Pearls and Charms; or by increasing their badge tiers. Additionally, temporary Perk Points will be gained by using different equipment, which will break after a certain number of uses.
Fishing Perks
There are a total of 25 Fishing Perks, each with a different effect that boosts what the player catches. Each perk uses a system of Perk Points to determine its effectiveness. Perks can be upgraded to increase permanent Perk Points with A.N.G.L.R. Tokens and Pearls.

All perks will be listed in the Perk Codex, which will detail how to earn points for each and how many the player currently has.
All perks are shown in the A.N.G.L.R. Panel, which lists when upgrades are unlocked, how to purchase them, and the upgrade effectiveness.

Equipment
Equipment
Players will be able to upgrade their Fishing Rod and its equipment, including its: Rod Core, Fishing Bait, Fishing Line, Energy Drink, Rod Augments, and A.N.G.L.R. Tech Items. Each piece of equipment will boost different perks or change the player's fishing experience in other unique ways.
Fishing Consumables
Various fishing consumables can be purchased or obtained from treasures.
* Bait: adds points to each Hook perk
* Lines: add points to each Rod perk
* Augments: add points to one specified perk
* Lures: guarantees a specified catch, or increases Wayfinder Data (Wayfinder Lure)

Crab Pots
Crab Pots

Crab Pots are fishing tools unlocked at 15 that passively catch Crabs and other items for the player, even while they are offline.

Every 10 minutes, each of a player's crab pots will attempt to catch an item. If successful, the pot will lose 1 durability, and the caught item will be stored, ready for the player to claim. Once a crab pot's durability reaches 0, it will no longer attempt to catch items until the player repairs it back to its maximum durability at no cost.<br />Each crab pot must be has its own Catch Chance and Maximum Durability, which can be improved with Fishing Perks and Augments.

There are a total of 42 different types of crabs, each with one of three possible weights. Each climate has 14 different crabs available within them, meaning players must choose which climate to deploy their crab pots in.

Vendors
Fishing Vendors
Seven shops are present at the spawn area of each fishing island, including the Fishmonger, Artisan, Supplies, Tech, Crabber, Exchange, and Junk Collector. Cosmetic collectors can be found in the Dark Grove, Twisted Swamp, and Ashen Wastes, where cosmetic cores of the respective climate can be exchanged for A.N.G.L.R. Tokens or cosmetics.

Badges
Update History
There will be 20 different Fishing Badges to progress through, each with a unique objective and tied to a unique perk. Increasing each badge's tier will not earn the player any Trophies but will permanently increase their Perk Points for the corresponding perk.
{{Scrollbox|height=350px|text=<tabber>
|-|Open Beta=
0.24.0
* Legendary and Mythic Treasure now have a higher chance of rolling cosmetics.
* Scavenging Fishing cosmetics now gives you Cosmetic Cores based on the climate of the cosmetic. The higher the rarity, the more Cores are received.
* Added 3 new hidden vendors which sell all Rare and above cosmetics from that climate.
* The A.N.G.L.R. Exchange now sells more items, which can be bought up to 20 times, and the stock refreshes every month rather than weekly.

Sunken Quests
0.23.2
* Tech Items are now sorted in your Fishing Supplies menu by the time that you equipped them.
Sunken Quests will be a type of quest exclusive to fishing. Each quest will require the player to seek out specific items or fish in a designated climate in exchange for Angler Tokens, Sunken XP, and Wayfinder Data. Unlike normal quests, progress towards Sunken Quests will be tracked using a points system—where higher-quality items caught provide more points. Additionally, Sunken Quests will never expire, and completing one will immediately grant another, with no daily limit.
** This change was made to prevent your equipped Tech Items from jumping about when you add new ones or discard old ones.
** Item before the patch will stay at the end until they are replaced with a new item.
* Shift-right-clicking on Overclocks will change the selected perk to the previous perk.
* Fixed an issue that could cause fishing catches to reach the purple bar and then error.
* Added missing back button to the Crab Pots menu.
* Fixed Grotto Stability boss bar not having a background.
* Fixed an issue that would prevent being able to activate your Unstable Overclock if you had an upgrade available for it that you could afford.
* Fixed being able to hear fishing catch splashes of other players when in grottos.
* Fixed an issue where you could hear other players’ fishing catch splashes and not your own.
* Fixed an issue that would let you teleport to a player whilst they are in a grotto.
* You can no longer access fishing while on a queue penalty.

While fishing, players may also catch Sunken Scrolls and A.N.G.L.R. Crates. These will function similarly to Quest Scrolls, placeable in Fishing Scroll Slots. Sunken Scrolls will provide the same rewards as Sunken Quests, but each will be associated with a specific climate. A.N.G.L.R. Crates will be much rarer and contain many more rewards, though they will require longer tasks to open.
0.23.1
* Bait and Lines have been rebalanced to make more sense.
** Common to Rare bait and lines are now valued lower and are cheaper to buy.
** You can now upcraft bait and lines 5:1 all the way from Common to Legendary.
** The Elite Angler hidden vendor now sells Rare, Epic, and Legendary bait and lines in exchange for only pearls. This is intended as an end-game pearl sink.
* Common to Rare treasure has been rebalanced. It will now feel like it contains more than before since low-tier bait and lines are worth less, so it now has more items overall to compensate. They do however still have the same value overall.
* Epic and Legendary treasure has been rebalanced and slightly buffed in value and items overall, guaranteeing more augments/lures/tech items. Notably, Legendary treasure now guarantees a cosmetic of Uncommon rarity and above.
* Mythic treasure has had a sizable buff. They now contain more and better items overall, but with the same cosmetic chances.
* Increased the chance of pearl, fish magnet, and elusive fish spots in grottos. As a result of this change, there will be fewer normal fish spots in grottos.
* Junk Collector and A.N.G.L.R. Artisan multibuy options were increased, now goes up to 500 (was previously up to 5) for easier/quicker access.
* Ultralures no longer cost any A.N.G.L.R. Tokens when buying from the tech shop, but now cost 3 Pure Spirits instead of 1.
* Removed the Pure Spirit cost from research tiers 91-100.
* Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause an untranslated string to be shown when catching a fish.
* Fixed an issue that would cause the fishing bobber to become stuck in the water without being able to reel it back in.
* Fixed the display of modifiers in upgrade/overclock tooltips to avoid rounding errors. This means that modifiers that we’re displaying as 0.30000000000004% will now correctly display as 0.3%.
* Fixed an issue that would cause errors whilst fishing if you had a large amount of Strong Hook points.

Sunken XP earned from completing Sunken Quests will fill the player’s Sunken Meter. Similar to the Daily Meter, the meter will be able to be claimed infinitely but the XP required to do so will increase with each claim. The required XP will reset daily at 10 AM UTC. Each claim will reward the player with a Reward Crate, and every 10 claims will unlock the Sunken Bounty, granting a random rarity of A.N.G.L.R. Crate.
December 19, 2024
* Added the A.N.G.L.R. Exchange shop to all islands
* Added more spots and better lighting to Tropical Grottos
* Junk spins have had their chances for treasure increased
* Fixed the fishing level 51-59 rewards being incorrect
* Other miscellaneous fixes

Crab Pots
0.22.2
* Lowered the amount of bars displayed before catching polished pearls, refined spirit, and common to epic treasure to make the buildup feel more proportional to the perceived value.
Crab Pots will be passive fishing tools that catch Crabs, and occasionally Pearls and Treasure, for the player every 10 minutes, even while they are offline. There will be around 100 different types of Crabs, with a unique set of them available at each island, so the player will have to choose where to deploy their Pots. Crabs will come in one of two weights and will reward the player with Angler Trophies.
* Fixed XP Magnet triggering less frequently than it was meant to, then also fixed it triggering more frequently than it was meant to. Now it finally works as intended. Hope you enjoyed the impromptu double XP weekend!
* If a consumable is paused, its bonuses no longer display in the main or advanced info for perks.
* Fixed an issue that would cause pulls to count past the maximum and then end in an error.
* This particularly impacted Spirit spots in Grottos, and many spots when you are high level or have lots of consumables equipped.
* There may be more issues that can cause this, including server lag. Please report any if you find them!
* Fixed an issue causing Greedy and Glimmering Pot Augments to lose uses when catching crabs instead of only when catching treasure / pearls.
* Fixed the tooltip for Legendary Lines incorrectly saying that they do not lose uses when fishing trash.
* Fixed an issue that would cause the number of A.N.G.L.R. Tokens displayed in your action bar to desync if you exit the Fishmonger menu using the back button from within the Pocket menu, rather than closing.
* Fixed an issue that was causing A.N.G.L.R. Stock Replenishers to always restore spots to Plentiful rather than the stock level they started at.
* Fixed an issue that would cause emotes to display an untranslated string instead of hiding them when you have emote visibility toggled off.
* Fixed pausing supply items requiring MCC+ when it should require Grand Champ Royale, as was specified on the webstore.

Fishing is a persistent game mode you can play at any time - no waiting on other players!

The aim is simple: catch fish or other treasures of the sea, upgrade your rod to catch more fish, unlock the islands, and become the master angler of all MCC Islands!

Fishing is a persistent strategy game on MCC Island, which was introduced in Patch 0.22.0.

The game was first teased in the May 2024 MCC Island Dev Q&A and was originally due to be released in early Summer 2024.[1] However, its release was delayed due to the scope of the game expanding.[2]

Gameplay

Within Fishing, the player's goal is to upgrade their Fishing Level with Angler Trophies, allowing them to unlock new islands, upgrades, and better rewards. Angler Trophies also progress the player's Crown Level.

Fishing is a persistent game, meaning progression is saved between sessions, allowing players to stop playing and continue where they left off whenever they choose.

All fishing catches are worth Island XP, meaning Fishing progresses the player's Daily Meter, Battlepass and Faction Level.

Fishing

Fishing Spots

Players can catch fish and items by casting their Fishing Rod at Fishing Spots on Fishing Islands. These spots are visible by the two fish swimming beneath them, causing animated water ripples, and are marked by a label with informative text.

Each Fishing Spot has a stock level that determines how many catches a player can make before it is depleted. The stock level ranges from Plentiful to Very High, High, Medium, Low, and finally Depleted. After each non-Junk catch, there is a 40% chance that the stock level will drop to the next tier (cancelled by Graceful Rod).

Each spot also spawns with various buffs that increase the effect of specific Fishing Perks. These buffs become visible once the player reaches Fishing Level 6.

All fishing spot locations and buffs on all islands are the same for every player, but a spot's stock is unique to each player. Additionally, the more remote or hidden a spot is, the higher the chance it will have better buffs, but also a lower stock level.

Spots have a minimum stock level of Medium and are guaranteed to have at least one buff.

More valuable catches will take longer to reel in, indicated by bars on screen and sound effects.
Once the player has a catch on their hook, they can reel it in at any time without it escaping, as long as the spot's still there.

Main Article: Grottos

Each Climate has a hidden Grotto, a special area full of unique fish and better loot than regular islands. Each Grotto's location must be revealed by collecting 2,000 of that climate's Wayfinder Data: rewarded on every catch within that climate. Performing catches in a grotto will decrease the grotto's stability, depending on that Fishing Spot's stability cost. Once the grotto's stability reaches 0, the grotto will be again unreachable for the player until they rediscover its location.

Fish

Main Article: Fish

There are 216 unique fish to catch, each with one of 4 weights: Average, Large, Massive, and Gargantuan; and one of 6 rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic.
Rarity determines how difficult it is to find and catch a specific fish. Each weight above Average is exponentially harder to catch than the last. In order to gain the maximum amount of Angler Trophies for a particular fish, players must catch all 4 weights of that fish.

Trophy allocation for a fish is as follows, based on rarity and weight:

Fish - Trophy Counts
Rarity Trophies by Weight Total Trophies
Average - 6
Large - 8
Massive - 10
Gargantuan - 12

Fish also have some additional traits:

  • Time - determines what time of day a fish can be found.
    • Either Day or Night, or Always.
  • Type - either Normal or Elusive
    • Elusive fish are only catchable when the player has Elusive Fish Chance (either by fishing at Fishing Spots with the Elusive Fish Chance buff, during Strong Winds, or by upgrading the perk).

A player can see all the possible fish on their unlocked islands and which they've caught in the A.N.G.L.R. Panel.

All caught fish are sellable at the A.N.G.L.R. Fishmonger for A.N.G.L.R. Tokens, with more earnt for higher rarities and weights.

Other Catches

The player might also catch:

  • Trash - can be sold for A.N.G.L.R. Tokens or used to perform Junk Spins.
  • Pearls - used to purchase upgrades, perks and certain equipment.
  • Spirits - used to purchase upgrades, perks and certain equipment.
  • Treasure - highly useful and valuable, rarely include exclusive cosmetics based on the climate they were caught in.

Upgrades

Perks

Main Article: Fishing Perks

There are a total of 25 Fishing Perks, each with a different effect that boosts what the player catches. Each perk uses a system of Perk Points to determine its effectiveness. Perks can be upgraded to increase permanent Perk Points with A.N.G.L.R. Tokens and Pearls.

All perks are shown in the A.N.G.L.R. Panel, which lists when upgrades are unlocked, how to purchase them, and the upgrade effectiveness.

Equipment

Main Article: Fishing Consumables

Various fishing consumables can be purchased or obtained from treasures.

  • Bait: adds points to each Hook perk
  • Lines: add points to each Rod perk
  • Augments: add points to one specified perk
  • Lures: guarantees a specified catch, or increases Wayfinder Data (Wayfinder Lure)

Crab Pots

Main Article: Crab Pots

Crab Pots are fishing tools unlocked at Fishing Level 15 that passively catch Crabs and other items for the player, even while they are offline.

Every 10 minutes, each of a player's crab pots will attempt to catch an item. If successful, the pot will lose 1 durability, and the caught item will be stored, ready for the player to claim. Once a crab pot's durability reaches 0, it will no longer attempt to catch items until the player repairs it back to its maximum durability at no cost.
Each crab pot must be has its own Catch Chance and Maximum Durability, which can be improved with Fishing Perks and Augments.

There are a total of 42 different types of crabs, each with one of three possible weights. Each climate has 14 different crabs available within them, meaning players must choose which climate to deploy their crab pots in.

Vendors

Main Article: Fishing Vendors

Seven shops are present at the spawn area of each fishing island, including the Fishmonger, Artisan, Supplies, Tech, Crabber, Exchange, and Junk Collector. Cosmetic collectors can be found in the Dark Grove, Twisted Swamp, and Ashen Wastes, where cosmetic cores of the respective climate can be exchanged for A.N.G.L.R. Tokens or cosmetics.

Update History

  • Legendary and Mythic Treasure now have a higher chance of rolling cosmetics.
  • Scavenging Fishing cosmetics now gives you Cosmetic Cores based on the climate of the cosmetic. The higher the rarity, the more Cores are received.
  • Added 3 new hidden vendors which sell all Rare and above cosmetics from that climate.
  • The A.N.G.L.R. Exchange now sells more items, which can be bought up to 20 times, and the stock refreshes every month rather than weekly.
  • Tech Items are now sorted in your Fishing Supplies menu by the time that you equipped them.
    • This change was made to prevent your equipped Tech Items from jumping about when you add new ones or discard old ones.
    • Item before the patch will stay at the end until they are replaced with a new item.
  • Shift-right-clicking on Overclocks will change the selected perk to the previous perk.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause fishing catches to reach the purple bar and then error.
  • Added missing back button to the Crab Pots menu.
  • Fixed Grotto Stability boss bar not having a background.
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent being able to activate your Unstable Overclock if you had an upgrade available for it that you could afford.

  • Bait and Lines have been rebalanced to make more sense.
    • Common to Rare bait and lines are now valued lower and are cheaper to buy.
    • You can now upcraft bait and lines 5:1 all the way from Common to Legendary.
    • The Elite Angler hidden vendor now sells Rare, Epic, and Legendary bait and lines in exchange for only pearls. This is intended as an end-game pearl sink.
  • Common to Rare treasure has been rebalanced. It will now feel like it contains more than before since low-tier bait and lines are worth less, so it now has more items overall to compensate. They do however still have the same value overall.
  • Epic and Legendary treasure has been rebalanced and slightly buffed in value and items overall, guaranteeing more augments/lures/tech items. Notably, Legendary treasure now guarantees a cosmetic of Uncommon rarity and above.
  • Mythic treasure has had a sizable buff. They now contain more and better items overall, but with the same cosmetic chances.
  • Increased the chance of pearl, fish magnet, and elusive fish spots in grottos. As a result of this change, there will be fewer normal fish spots in grottos.

  • Ultralures no longer cost any A.N.G.L.R. Tokens when buying from the tech shop, but now cost 3 Pure Spirits instead of 1.
  • Removed the Pure Spirit cost from research tiers 91-100.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause an untranslated string to be shown when catching a fish.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the fishing bobber to become stuck in the water without being able to reel it back in.
